"Health and Safety can be a dry subject but done right it can help to protect people, businesses and the environment. Helping to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence of students so they can go out and perform to the best of their abilities, will lead to a safer and more rewarding life for everyone."

Worked for over 40 years in heavy manufacturing within the Steel Industry holding various shop floor and management roles which helps me to effectively communicate across all levels. Since 1996 I have worked within the Training and Health and Safety arena, achieving Chartered Membership of IOSH in 2015

Restructured the National Vocational Qualification (level two) Steel Casting, working closely with the Government lead body (SEMTA) in order to make sure that the award achieved was relevant and produced meaningful results. Over 250 employees (94% of the workforce) enrolled on the programme achieved a Level 2 Award and one employee was awarded “National Adult Learner of the Year”

Designed an incident investigation package which got down to the root causes of incidents. This lead to a significant decrease in the number of repeat incidents and allowed the Management team to focus their time and resources in the high risk areas. Working in the Steel Industry, with a work force of over 2500 employees the frequency rate got down to 0.9 for lost time events. This was a great achievement and it was only made possible with the involvement of everyone in the business.

Specialist Areas:
