Get the skills, knowledge and confidence to succeed in your career.
If you’re leaving school and debating what to do next, an apprenticeship is a perfect way to get started in a career that’s right for you.
At The Source, we will support you throughout your apprenticeship from finding your ideal vacancy to supporting your training to preparing you for your end point assessment.
What is an Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a training programme that combines work experience with skills training. Most of your training takes place in a job role, with 20% of your time dedicated to classroom based learning. You can study an Apprenticeship at Level 2 and progress right through to Level 6 – which is the equivalent to a Bachelors Degree!
Earn while you learn
Apprentices are paid while on the job. The minimum wage for a 16-18 year old Apprentice is set at £3.90 per hour, but this increases on your second year of study. Many employers pay more than the minimum amount.
Who can do an apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships can be studied at any age, by people of every ability and background. All you need to be is aged 16 or over, not in full time education and be able to work in the UK. Apprenticeships are perfect for those who want to gain experience to support their qualifications.
If you feel you don’t have the maths or English qualifications for an apprenticeship, you can study a Traineeship which will give you the skills and confidence you need.

As an Apprentice, you will be able to progress in your studies and in the company you’re working in. On average over your working life, apprentices are paid 16% more than graduates and progress at a faster rate. 92% of apprentices say that their apprenticeship has had a positive effect on their career.
