Tricia Smith is the CEO of The Source Skills Academy, a leading centre providing training, development and conferencing facilities for the local community as well as businesses in South Yorkshire and further afield.
Tricia has over 17 years management experience in the Education sector. Having previously worked at Barnsley College, she has a successful track record in business development, and extensive experience of bid writing, project management, financial management, commissioning and contracting. She was instrumental in Barnsley College being selected as the training partner of the highly regarded Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre in Sheffield and in Barnsley College in partnership with Bradford College, Leeds Trinity University and the University of Leeds establishing the Professional Skills Partnership. The Professional Skills Partnership was established in December 2016, in response to the Governments Apprenticeship Reforms. The purpose of the partnership is to provide a collaborative response to meeting employer needs, through the delivery of a single cohesive model which will ensure that collectively the partnership can meet the whole organisational skills needs of large employers. In January 2017, the partnership has successfully secured a number of significant levy contracts.
Tricia also spent time working with the SCR LEP, supporting the SCR Area Based Review and has lead on the SCR FE Colleges’ involvement in shaping the regional skills policies.
She is passionate about delivering high quality services and training to customers.
As a retail training specialist, The Source Skills Academy represents the interests of the retail and visitor economy sector on various committees which Tricia attends including the SCR LEP Retail Steering Group, Rotherham Local Integration Board, Rotherham BGB Skills & Employment Group, Rotherham Town Centre Group, Revo Community Engagement Working Group and the Sheffield and Barnsley & Rotherham Chambers.
Director of Business Development
Dale Robinson is Director of Business Development at The Source Skills Academy, overseeing the Business Development and Marketing teams, and has been with The Source since 2010.
After spending over 10 years with National Westminster Bank and three years managing the Business Development Team at Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, Dale moved into the educational sector to support the delivery of regional apprenticeship initiatives managing projects such as Opportunity Sheffield and Skills Made Easy working as a key link between these projects and businesses across the Sheffield City Region.
Dale continues to use his experience and knowledge in Retail, Banking, Engineering, Manufacturing and Marketing to support the Governments local and National Apprenticeship priorities supporting The Sources move to delivering the new Apprenticeship standards to businesses nationwide.
Dale has been actively involved in a number of successful Government funded training projects such as the Enhancement Fund and Skills Bank which has seen the successful delivery of training to over 5000 people via The Source locally during the past two years.
Director of Corporate Services
Debbie joined us in September 2017 and was appointed Interim Head of Finance and HR. She has held many senior finance and managerial positions and has worked in a variety of different industry sectors, predominately over the last decade in the not for profit environment and previous to this in the FMCG and Construction industries.
This has brought with it a significant wealth of commercial experience and skills in due diligence, change management, risk management, leadership, strategic awareness, adding value and communication. Debbie is responsible for the development and implementation of the financial strategy and leads the finance function and team.
