The Source Skills Academy are happy to announce that we have been shortlisted for the Best use of Technology Award by the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce! We are thrilled to be recognised for our use of technology to create the most effective processes for both our employees and our customers. We are also extremely delighted to find that this is a double achievement, as one of our talented and driven apprentices, Gracie Smith, has been shortlisted for the Apprentice of the Year Award!

Functional Skills Tutors Celebrate 100% Success Rate

The Community and Employability team have achieved a massive 100% success rate in functional skills for English within the department. They have also achieved 94.1% pass rate in functional skills for maths.

Local charities pledge to support people into work

Two of Sheffield’s biggest charities are coming together to help unemployed people get back into work with a brand new programme called Steps to Work.

The Source and Sheffield City Trust are teaming up to support people across the region get back into work by offering a series of tailored programmes that will work on key areas of employability skills.

Supporting Skills in the Workforce with The Source

More than 49% of adults in lower socio-economic groups do not complete any training after leaving school.

According to the 2019 Adults Skills Gap report by the Government, only 8% of low paid workers accessed training within their employers, whereas graduates are three times more likely to undertake training and managers have twice as much training than those in lower roles.

The Source Launches New Apprenticeship Programmes

Sheffield based training provider, The Source, is expanding its offering of apprenticeships into two new sectors: Health and Social Care, and Digital.

The range of new Digital apprenticeship programmes allows students to develop in more specialised areas such as Software Development, leading to roles within IT teams or as programmers. The Level 3 Software Development Technician lasts for around 18 months, providing learners with skills in Javascript and PHP software along with many others.
