Seasoned apprentice, Adele Teather, is taking on a new challenge as she begins a new high-level management course.
Adele, 20, from Sheffield, has begun studying a Level 5 Institute of Leadership and Management Qualification through Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group after completing a previous apprenticeship through The Source.
Based at Charnock Health Centre, Sheffield, Adele has worked as a Business Administration Assistant and now hopes to become an Assistant Manager through her new qualification. She has been working with staff at the Health Centre and tutors from The Source to develop her skills and confidence in management, skills which will allow her to progress her career.
Adele said: “The best thing about an apprenticeship is learning on the job and gaining hands on experience. You start with the basics and work yourself upwards, gaining more and more confidence as you learn.
“You also have the support of a tutor who regularly checks in on your progress by visiting the workplace and keeps you on track to succeed which is very encouraging. All the staff, especially the Practice Manager, have supported and helped me through the apprenticeship to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible.”
Apprenticeships allow learners of all ages and abilities to develop their knowledge and skills while working within the role and industry of their choice. The Source is a Sheffield based apprenticeship provider which works with a range of employers across the region, including Charnock Health Centre, to deliver apprenticeship programmes in eight key areas.
Daniel Stanbra, Head of Operations at The Source, said: “We work with young people and communities within South Yorkshire to develop their skills and experience so that they can find long term employment.
“Adele is an inspirational apprentice who is breaking the mould by taking on a Leadership and Management qualification at such a young age. It goes to show that apprentices can tackle every challenge and push boundaries within industries. All of our apprentices are talented individuals whose skills development we enable to help them achieve their aspirations.”
Julie Coakley, Practice Manager at Charnock Health Centre, said: “Adele has been a real asset to the Centre. She is hard working and confident in her role. We have worked with The Source throughout Adele’s apprenticeships with us. Their support has been monumental to Adele’s success and progression.”
