2017 has been a great year at The Source, we’ve secured some great business and developed key partnerships, we’ve won awards with our apprentices and we’ve welcomed new people to the company.
Here are just some of our highlights this year:
We received an overall “Good” rating following our Ofsted inspection.
The report published in June highlighted a number of positive areas for us - Our staff were commended for their team working in order to achieve high standards and work based learning tutors were also highly praised in the support they provide learners to succeed on programme.
This year we became a People 1st Gold Apprenticeship Provider. People 1st’s gold standard apprenticeship provider status is an exclusive stamp of approval that is promoted to employers throughout the visitor economy industry. We are proud to be 1 of 12 currently recognised as a Gold provider.
Our new Chief Executive
In June, Tricia Smith joined The Source as our new CEO.
Working with Levy clients
The Apprenticeship Levy came into force in April/May this year and we are delighted to have been chosen as a training provider by a number of Levy paying businesses to help them to develop their own Apprenticeship Programmes.
We are proud to be working alongside businesses such as Sheffield University, Team KnowHow (Dixons Carphone), AMRC Training Centre, Meadowhall Centre, BT PLusnet and the Electrical Distribution Association with over 238 members and a 4 Billion turnover.
We’ve had lots of recognition this year for our apprenticeship programmes, and personally for our Apprentices. We’ve had 7 nominations of which 3 won, 1 was highly commended and 3 were finalists and we are incredibly proud of them!
We had wins at The Retail Rising Star Awards for Jessica Heppleston (Jack Hinton Electrical) and Matt Sadler and The Team Knowhow Apprenticeship Programme. Daniel Roberts (Top Cars of Sheffield) was Highly Commended at the North Midlands and South Yorkshire Apprenticeship awards and Hollie Jones (Keepmoat), Lauren Simpson (Steel Services) and Kyran Jobling (B&W Beds) we’re all finalists at the Rotherham Apprenticeship Awards.
Successful Community Programmes
This year our British Land Bright Lights programme was bigger than ever and has been delivered across 12 sites across the country and we are scheduled to start our next programme at Drake Circus in Plymouth. So far, we’ve welcomed 139 learners onto the programmes and 90 have already gone on to secure employment.
We were delighted when the Skills Funding Agency released the latest results for Qualification Achievement Rates (QAR) which showed The Source to be the top performing Apprenticeship Provider in the Sheffield City Region, with our overall success rate at 83.8 percent.
This year we have achieved a great deal which is down to the great team of people who work here but is also thanks to the businesses who work with us and the people who engage with our training, community and apprenticeship programmes.
We have many exciting plans for next year and we hope to achieve even more in what is our 15th year!
