COURSE: Sales & Telesales Apprenticeship

Highly commended in the Higher/Degree Apprentice of the Year at the SCR Apprenticeship Awards

Jenny Asquith, HR and Retail Operations manager of electronic cigarettes company Mirage Ltd, was highly-commended in the Higher/Degree Apprentice of the Year category.

“I’m very proud to have my hard work recognised,” said Jenny, 28, who manages 65 retail staff and looks after HR for 80 retail and warehouse employees.

Jenny had hated school, despite gaining 13 GCSEs, but when her boss at Mirage gave her the chance to study a Level 3 apprenticeship, it set off a thirst for learning.
“My apprenticeship helped me become a better manager and gave me self-belief and I wanted to keep going,” she says.

“During the pandemic, I smashed my Level 5 qualification in one year instead of two and now I’m determined to get to Level 7, the equivalent of a Masters.

Added Jenny, of Sheffield: “You have to be disciplined to study while you’re managing a big team, but the learning helps me do my job better.  It makes you question and challenges your actions on the job, has taught me how to delegate, find strengths in people and manage any weaknesses.”

Mirage’s company director Craig Newbold said: “We are so proud of what Jenny has achieved. She’s a fantastic manager and is determined to go as far as she can with her apprenticeship. We will support her all the way.”
