Trainee Tutor


Department: Work-based learning

Hours: Full-Time

Salary Per Annum: £22,000 per annum

Main Duties

  • Apply ‘assess, train, assess’ model to support learners to successfully achieve their qualification(s) including Functional Skills where applicable, on a timely basis. This activity is on the employer's premises and involves travel.
  • Generate learner numbers onto Apprenticeship/Work Place programmes to support own caseloads and departmental targets
  • Liaise with employers to build/maintain strong work relationships
  • Complete all relevant documentation in line with departmental procedures and contractual compliance
  • Contribute to the process of self-assessment and quality improvement planning
  • Assist with audits and inspections as required
  • Meet with employers to discuss their training needs
  • Meet with external stakeholders, i.e. Awarding Bodies, Ofsted Inspectors
  • Attend and present at various events, i.e. schools, and employer's job fairs to promote learning and other areas of The Source
  • Assess/judge the duration of individual learner programmes based on initial assessment outcomes
  • Judgements made to ensure that learners are retained on programmes and successfully achieve their learning programmes
  • Delivering the highest standard of teaching, learning and assessment to contribute to achieving Grade 1 at Inspection
  • Follow Safeguarding procedures and understand your responsibilities
  • Responsible for the delivery and achievement of an average caseload of 45 learners (Full Time Equivalent)
  • Provide support/IAG to new members of the team and learners
  • Ensure successful, timely delivery of  programmes
  • Ensure all learner and employer information is treated with confidentiality
  • Required to update occupational competence regularly
  • Attend identified CPD sessions/events on a regular basis
  • Any other duties that may be required of you from time to time

Vocational Skills Tutor


Department: Work-based learning

Hours: Full-Time

Salary Per Annum: £26,809.87 per annum

Main Duties

  • Provide IAG, enrol and manage a caseload of job seekers through to progression 
  • To prepare and review session plans, scheme of work and teaching/learning materials using initial assessments and marked work to consider the learners’ individual needs 
  • Plan and deliver engaging and exciting training sessions to inspire and motivate learners in classroom and community venues around the Rotherham and Sheffield areas 
  • Plan, prepare and deliver online via Teams and other e-platforms 
  • To improve learners’ experience through providing ongoing support as required 
  • Continually monitor and review learners’ progress 
  • Assist in the writing, design, and development of curriculum through planning time and standardisation meetings 
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, and progress
  • To consistently deliver high standards of teaching and learning 
  • To provide learners with one-to-one support in a contextualised setting 
  • Act on feedback from teaching observations, employers, peers, or other review processes 
  • Undertake necessary training to professionally develop and keep abreast with current practices and legislation within the sector (if required) 
  • Attend planning and coordination meetings as required 
  • To support with the moderation of FS exams 
  • To provide accurate and timely formative and summative assessment and feedback to learners, and maintain assessment records, including tracking and reporting of learner progress in line with the organisation’s policy
  • Complete qualification administration to required standards for awarding body and verified by IQA/EQA
  • Engaging with quality management processes to ensure that teaching maintains Outstanding OFSTED standards
  • Be willing to gain an Internal Verification Qualification within the first 12 months of employment.

Qualifications


Essential   

  • Holds a teaching qualification, at least a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS)         
  • Level 2 in English / Maths         

Desirable

  • Level 2 Information, Advice and Guidance

  • Knowledge in relation to the issues affecting individuals with barriers to progressing to employment and sustained employment     
  • Knowledge of ESFA contracts         
  • Excellent knowledge of basic MS Office packages, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
